Terms of Service
Last updated 1 August 2026. This is a template for a South African car-repair marketplace — have a lawyer review it before relying on it for a live, paying userbase.
1. Who these terms are for
My Bonnet is a marketplace connecting vehicle owners ("motorists") with independent car workshops ("workshops"). These terms apply to anyone who creates an account, whether as a motorist or a workshop owner. By creating an account you agree to be bound by them.
2. What My Bonnet is and isn't
My Bonnet provides the booking, escrow, warranty-tracking, and review platform. Workshops are independent businesses, not employees or agents of My Bonnet — they set their own prices, staff, and working hours. My Bonnet does not itself perform vehicle repairs.
3. Bookings, payment, and escrow
When a motorist books a service, the quoted amount (service price plus the platform booking fee) is authorized against the motorist's payment method and held by My Bonnet until the job is accepted, at which point it is captured. Funds are released to the workshop once the job is marked complete on the platform. Paying a workshop directly to avoid the platform fee is a breach of these terms and voids the My Bonnet warranty on that job.
4. Warranty and disputes
Work completed and marked COMPLETED through the platform carries a 3-month My Bonnet warranty against defects in that work, claimable through the app. Bookings that are still active (not yet completed) can instead be disputed — for issues like a no-show or a price disagreement — and are reviewed by My Bonnet, which may reopen or cancel the booking and refund the motorist.
5. Account responsibilities
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide (vehicle details, workshop address and services, pricing) and for keeping your account credentials confidential. Workshops must hold any licenses or permits required to operate in their jurisdiction.
6. Cancellations
A motorist can cancel a booking before a workshop accepts it at no charge. Once a workshop has accepted and begun work, cancellation terms are agreed between the motorist and workshop directly, with My Bonnet support available to mediate a dispute if needed.
7. Termination
Either side may close their account at any time. My Bonnet may suspend or terminate an account for fraud, repeated policy violations, or attempts to circumvent the platform's payment or warranty system.
8. Limitation of liability
My Bonnet is a marketplace, not a party to the repair contract between motorist and workshop. To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, My Bonnet's liability is limited to the platform fee paid on the booking giving rise to a claim, except where a warranty claim is upheld under Section 4.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app before they take effect. Continuing to use My Bonnet after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
